Peanut Butter Banana Smoothies

First off I'm going to start off this post with some of the things I used to create these wonderful smoothies.

We love peanut butter, but all the oils aren't great. There is some controversy on that. I've been trying to use powdered peanut butter. I've been using PB2 Powered Peanut Butter. I've been able to get it at the grocery store HyVee and Whole Foods. I haven't checked if Trader Joes has it or not.

I've been using whole flax seed. I've read in different sources that flax seed is better to digest if you ground it right before use. If you are looking for a great brand Tropical Traditions is wonderful!

Organic Flax Seed - 16 oz pouch

I use Chocolate or Vanilla NuStevia when I'm in a sweet mood.

Now onto the recipe:

I start adding things into the blender. I add a splash of almond milk and keep adding that until the blender can handle it. The more the milk, the runnier it gets. That part just depends on your preference.

All 4 family members love it! It's the only way I can get the 7 year old to eat, or in this case drink bananas. I imagine I could even throw in a handful of spinach. My family happens to just eat a small pile of spinach every morning anyhow.

The Great Benefits of a Banana

I found this on Facebook. Sorry no source is included. If you created this and want me to remove it or add your name to it, I'd be happy to.

Blueberry Banana Tofu Smoothies

Maybe it's bad, but I didn't tell my husband that Tofu was in his smoothie until he tried it. He doesn't usually like tofu. This time he liked it, so I told him. I wanted something that had a lot of good things in it because our son Isaak has been on a feeding, drinking strike. He's had a slight fever for two days and has been pretty moody.

Ingredients:

**I thought about adding probiotics to Isaak's smoothie since he's been under the weather. I didn't because he hasn't been drinking much. I thought that he may not finish his. As it turns out, he didn't finish it. I'm going to add that usually Isaak's a good eater. He really just doesn't feel good.

Preparation:

  • Drain the soft tofu to remove excess water.
  • You can use fresh fruit, but it will make the smoothie more runny.
  • Blend the banana, tofu and milk for 30 seconds.
  • Add the frozen blueberries, honey and ice cubes and process until smooth.
Enjoy!

Banana Chocolate Chip Waffles

I read that 1 waffle from the standard mixes from the store have more salt in them then a bag of potato chips.

This waffle recipe I got from Go Graham Go is so good that you really do not need any syrup.
I make 1/2 a batch for our family of 4, and have two waffles left over. I do have a 2 and 5 year old, so they don't eat a lot. I've been eating less as well.

Directions:

Mix the dry ingredients together.
Mix the wet ingredients together.
Pour the wet in the dry and mix.
It's that easy!

With banana's, I microwave them if they are green or yellow to make them mushy. This works well!
